Country Chic Clothing

What is Country Chic Style Anyway?   Carrie Underwood is the poster child for Country Chic.  Country-chic styles are meant to mix fashion and function.  They range from country western to English countryside inspired outfits. The Country Chic Style has definitely become more popular recently.  Think about it this way, pair trendy stylish looks with southern sophistication and there you have it, Country Chic.  This style can be dressed up or down but either way is simple and comfortable.  A style that is easy to create and easy to wear.  Here are a few styles that fall within the Country Chic Trend:

Country Western Chic
Cowboy boots, a Cowboy Hat and throw in a plaid shirt and you have the epitome of country. By adding in  a few more modern pieces that accomplish the chic portion of the outfit you will  have this look nailed. Start with a pair of brown cowboy boots and then you can venture into other colors. A warmer brown is best if you wear a lot of muted colors such as pastels and lighter neutrals.  Brown also looks great with bright colors. Darker brown is best if your wardrobe leans towards darker hues and black. Wear your boots with a high-waist cotton pleated miniskirt or denim skirt and a cropped chunky sweater. Accessorize, Accessorize, Accessorize your outfit with items such as a metal cuff and several long necklaces that mix metals, leather and pendants. Think big statement pieces for necklaces and earrings

English Countryside
The English countryside-inspired look is also Classic Country-Chic.  Earth tones and earthy textures such as leather, shearling and cotton are combined to create silhouette-enhancing designs. The equestrian-style falls into this style. You can pull off this look by wearing a bow-tie tunic-blouse with an equestrian-style plaid patterned blazer over a pair of slim-cut jeans. They must be tight enough to fit inside a pair of knee-high boots. Wellington boots, or a pair of knee-high leather riding boots are a style staple if you want this look.

Farm-Girl Fashions
The midwest inspires a country-chic fashion of their own. This look brings us the farmer-girl braids, denim overalls, and wide-brim hats. Wear a multi-layered cotton maxi skirt with a pair of moccasins boots, a knotted plaid shirt, and layer a light denim jacket on top. If you're doing denim overalls, make sure they are the slim-cut style and not the house-painter style. Cuff the hem to expose a mid-heel suede ankle boot and wear a tank top underneath. Accessorize with lots of chunky arm jewelry such as a boyfriend watch or a wrap bracelet.

Cross Country
While the above styles of country dressing work well on their own, you can also combine elements of each for a "cross country" look. Pair a vintage looking ivory eyelet sundress with chunky mid-calf boots; motorcycle boots, cowboy boots or even rubber boots are all appropriate styles. Accessorize with a turquoise necklace and dangling dream catcher earrings. Top it off with a cropped camel suede shearling-lined jacket, and you have a perfectly blended country-chic outfit.

Bohemian
The Bohemian Style is often categorized as a 'country style' as well and is often referred to as “boho” or “boho chic".  This is a style of dressing that was popularized during the 1960s and 1970s though it is possible to trace the roots back further. The essence of bohemian is focusing on free and flowy fabrics. This style also emphasizes concern for the environment so natural fabrics and used clothing are commonly worn. Remember though that the bohemian style also emphasizes finding the clothing that makes you feel in harmony with yourself and with nature, so don’t assume that there are any hard and fast rules about what is and isn’t bohemian
